Samson/Behringer PA System Instructions
GETTING STARTED:
Use the supplied power cable to connect each speaker to a power source via the power source plug in on the back of the speakers. Make sure that the power switches on the back of the speaker’s are set to OFF. Use the other supplied power cable to connect the mixer to a power source via the power source plug in on the back of the mixer’s control panel. Make sure that the power switch on the back of the mixer is set to OFF. On the rear control panel of the speakers there are inputs labeled “LINE INPUT.” Using two of the three included microphone cables, plug one end of each cable into these inputs. On the back of the mixer there are two outputs labeled “MAIN OUTPUTS.” Plug the other ends of these microphone cables into the outputs labeled “LEFT” and “RIGHT.” On the back of the speakers, set the control knobs labeled “LINE LEVEL” at about 12 o’clock.
TO USE THE MICROPHONE:
The far left vertical column of knobs on the mixing board is Channel 1. At the top of this channel strip you will see the microphone input. Make sure that the switch on the included microphone is set to OFF, grab the last microphone cable, plug one end into this input, and the other into the microphone. At the very bottom of the channel strip, there is a volume fader that slides up and down. For now, make sure that this volume fader is all the way down to turn the volume off. In the very bottom right-hand corner of the mixer is a fader labeled “MAIN MIX.” Set this fader at the “0” position (about ¾ of the way up). You can now turn the mixer on using the power switch located right next to the power cable on the back of the mixer. Turn the speakers on, using the power switch just below this knob. Grab the microphone and flip the switch to the ON position. While talking into the microphone, gradually move channel 1’s volume fader up until the desired audio level is reached.
TO USE AN EXTERNAL DEVICE (IPOD, MP3 PLAYER, LAPTOP, ETC):
On the far left of the mixing board is the vertical column that controls channel 1. Just to the right of this, you will see the vertical column for channel 2. At the top of this strip are a few inputs. Using the included connector cable, plug one end (the larger end) into the input labeled “INSERT I/0” which is just below the microphone input. Make sure the volume fader (at the very bottom of channel strip) is all the way down. Plug the other end of the cable into the output of the device you would like to use. Begin playback on your device, setting its playback volume at about 75%. During playback, slowly raise channel 2’s volume fader up until you’ve reached the desired audio level. Be sure that all other knobs in the channel strip are set at about 12 o’clock for best sound (additional adjustments to EQ and effects can be made once playback has already started).
When you are finished, stop playback on your device, turn the switch on the microphone to OFF, turn the power off on both the mixer and speakers, and simply disconnect all components.
